  • Adaptive Tuning
    Training for Oracle

A double-edged approach to solving your performance problems

Maklee Engineering is pleased to offer a new service – combined Oracle Tuning & Training in a three-day seminar conducted on-site in your Oracle environment.

Tuning Oracle is not a simple task, yet its rewards are immense – it is not uncommon for precise tuning to result in a ten-fold performance increase.

Maklee’s on-site Oracle Tuning & Training Seminar is a powerful combination of theory and practice:

Day 1:  Oracle Tuning theory & discussion, with a focus on the features specific to your environment.

Days 2 & 3: Tuning and analysis in your Oracle environment, with a guaranteed minimum performance improvement of 25%, or no charge for the training seminar.

In the current financial climate, Maklee maximizes your training budget by conducting seminars on-site. This means that more staff can participate, and tuning skills and techniques are implemented directly in your Oracle environment. The seminar is tailored for 100% relevance to your environment, so every aspect of both theoretical and practical training is applicable to your company’s needs.

The service is provided for Oracle versions 9i, 10g and 11g on the following platforms: OpenVMS (Alpha & Itanium), Tru64, HP-UX, Microsoft Windows, Linux, Sun Solaris and IBM AIX.

Maklee’s customized seminars are individually designed to show immediate positive results in performance improvement and ROI.

  • Scaling your Oracle environment with Maklee Engineering

When migrating from one platform to another scaling is always a concern. Everyone  aspires to have the system perform under peak load as well as it does when only few users are connected.

Tuning an Oracle environment to perform well under peak load or adapt to a sudden change in the workload (stock market collapsing for example) can be challenging.

Not all sites are capable of generating extreme production load in a test environment.

This is where Maklee comes into play....Maklee engineering provides a unique service for Oracle environments - scaling investigation.

Maklee's investigation assists in determining how well the system could scale and make sure that SLAs are being met under extreme load. Maklee's scaling service assists customers in answering four main questions:

    1. How many users can I add to the system without impacting the response time of the database?
    2. If my data base is expected to grow 3 times, what would be the expected impact on performance?
    3. Is my database (and O/S) currently configured to provide optimum performance/throughput?
    4. What would be the optimal hardware platform for my workload?

Maklee uses advanced tools for monitoring the existing Oracle environment and detect bottlenecks in the database preventing scaling.

Typical scaling investigation requires 2-3 days.   Here is a 30,000 feet overview of the process:

    • Discuss scaling &SLA requirements
    • Review the production Oracle environment.
    • Analysis of current situation highlighting bottlenecks preventing scaling (hardware & software)
    • Performance tuning eliminating bottlenecks.
    • Presenting recommendations.

Maklee's scaling investigation is offered on the following platforms: HP-UX, Linux, Tru64, OpenVMS, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX and Windows.
